The journey of king khan (Shah Rukh Khan)

2ND November 1965 was the day when king khan took birth on this planet. He was born a Muslim family in New Delhi. Khan was brought up in RAJENDRA NAGAR, New Delhi. His father was having a restaurant along with other business ventures at that time. He belonged to a middle class family. At that time they used to live in rented flats. He was admitted to S.T Columba’s school in central Delhi. He was excellent in academics and sports. His favourite sports were hockey and football. He was awarded with school’s highest awards “The sword of honour”. In his school time, he used to act in stage plays, in which he got lot of praise and honour for doing acting of various BOLLYWOOD actors. His favourite actors were DILIP KUMAR, MUMTAZ etc. After completing high school, he got into HANSRAJ college university of Delhi for his bachelor’s degree in economics. He spent most of his time with Delhi theatre action group where he learnt acting under the mentorship and guidance of the director Barry john. After completing his graduation, he went for his master’s degree from JAMIA MILLIA ISLAMIA in mass communications. He left his master’s in between to pursue acting. He also joined national school of Drama in Delhi during the start of his career in BOLLYWOOD. Unfortunately his father left for his heavenly abode in 1981 due to cancer and after 10 years i.e. in 1991 his mother also died of complications in diabetes. Due to the death of his parents, his older sister went into depression and king khan decided to take responsibility of her. She went to Bombay to live with King Khan in his mansion. King Khan is also known by an acronym SRK for his name SHAH RUKH KHAN. He fell in love with GAURI CHIBBER, a Hindu girl while pursuing his graduation. Their relationship continued for six years and finally they got married on 25th October 1991 in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony. They have two sons Aryan and Abram, and one daughter named SUHANA. Being a Muslim, he equally values his wife’s religion.

King Khan made his television debut in the series DIL DARIYA which began its shooting in 1988 but delays in shooting of this series resulted in the 1989 series FAUJI as his first television series. His further appearances were in CIRCUS (1989-90) and IDIOT (1991). He also played some small roles in serials UMEED and WAGLE KI DUNIYA in the same period. Various Producers and directors compared his acting style with that of DILIP KUMAR but he was not prepared for acting in BOLLYWOOD at that time because he thought he was not capable enough to be compared to a famous actor DILIP KUMAR. But he reversed his decision in 1991 thinking it as a way to come out of depression or grief of his mother’s death. He came to Bombay to make his career permanently in BOLLYWOOD. As soon as he landed in Bombay, he immediately signed four films. In June 1992, he came out with his first film DEEWANA along with DIVYA BHARTI and RISHI KAPOOR. This film was a box office hit and Launched King Khan career in BOLLYWOOD. He got FILMFARE award in Best debut actor male category for his performance in DEEWANA. He also came out with three more films in 1992 which were CHAMATKAR, DIL ASHNA HAI and RAJU BAN GAYA GENTLEMAN. In 1993-94, He emerged as an Anti Hero with films like BAAZIGAR and DARR playing Negative roles. He got nominated for Best actor in a negative role in FILMFARE awards but lost to PARESH RAWAL. BAAZIGAR was his first film with KAJOL which helped him to achieve his first FILMFARE award in Best actor category. In 1994, he won the FILMFARE award for best actor in a negative role category for his film ANJAAM. In 1995-1998, King Khan emerged as a romantic hero with Films like KARAN ARJUN starring SALMAN KHAN as his co-Star and DIL WALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE with KAJOL as her co-star. This film was a blockbuster hit and got more than 10 FILMFARE awards including King Khan’s 2nd best actor FILM FARE award.

His journey continued with some block buster films like KUCH-KUCH HOTA HAI, CHALTE-CHALTE, BAADSHAH, MOHABBATEIN, DEV – DAS with some of the BOLLYWOOD’S finest directors like YASH CHOPRA and KARAN JOHAR. Slowly-slowly he became a superstar with millions of fans. His Wax statue was established in MADAMME TUSSAUDS, London. He reconstructed DREAMZ UNLIMITED into Red chillies entertainment with his GAURI KHAN. The first film produced by this production house was MAIN HOON NA which was the second highest earner at that time. He came out with some excellent films like VEER-ZAARA, CHAK DE INDIA, OM SHANTI OM, RAB NE BANA DI JODI, CHENNAI EXPRESS etc.

He then bought an IPL cricket team Kolkata Night Riders who has won the IPL title twice. He is now coming up with his new film RAEES, the trailers of which has already started making records. Let’s see how it performs
