Posture is Copernicus (Defines your personality)

Posture is your way of carrying your body or it can also be said that it your body’s way of carrying you. Good posture makes a person attractive and lifts confidence levels. It is to be maintained consciously first and it comes naturally thereafter.

Psychologists relate a person’s posture to his/her confidence and self esteem. People with straight back and open gestures as their body language carry an air of confidence whereas people with slouch and shrivelled gestures are not very sure of themselves and lack self esteem.

This tells us how important posture is to us. It is actually understandable as, logically, how a person’s body behaves will eventually sub-consciously and consciously affect the state of mind and being of that person.

Ideal posture directs one to keep the back straight and evenly distribute the body weight on both the legs. Also, the neck should be aligned with the body, held not too high and bowed not too low. The line of sight must be parallel to the ground.

The concept of ideal posture is a highly debatable issue. On one hand, professionals state the above mentioned characteristics referring to ideal posture whereas on the other hand, interestingly, it is also said that the subject of ideal posture is subjective.

In today’s world being a couch potato is not a challenge with all the electronic devices like mobile phones, laptops, and television etcetera serving you faithfully without letting you take your butt off the chair. Many people have desk jobs which require them to sit for 8 to 12 hours a day for five days a week. Most of the fellows serving jobs like these suffer with troubles like backache, neck pain, improper blood circulation in the body and many more. The issues start off as occasionally problematic, becoming regular and then finally persistent which makes the work of daily life cumbersome.

Until the previous century the average age of a person suffering from arthritis was 63 and sadly this number has been consistently decreasing since then. Young people can be heard of complaining about such issues very easily and frequently. It has become the need of the hour to make the society aware about the peril involved in today’s lifestyle.

Wait. It is not that depressing. There are ways to curb the postural problems. Doctors give specific helpful guidelines to follow to help reduce the postural deformities which are quite common now.

Desk job employees should not lie back in the chair but rather should adjust the chair such that the back rest should be straight. In order to channelize proper blood circulation a short walk in every 45 minutes or so should be taken. You can simply go to the water point or to the washroom to take a break at regular intervals. This helps in not letting the body get stiff.

You may go for gymming, dancing, swimming, gymnastics, yoga and numerous other interesting options available. Of these, yoga is rapidly making place as the most sought after activity to attain multiple benefits including healthy body, mind and spirit.

If the above mentioned choices do not appeal to you and you feel that you will not be able to commit to it in your busy schedule then there is an easier and handy option for you. There are ample applications to help you remind the importance of regular exercise. Fitness is just two steps away.

Step I: Install a workout or a productivity app in your phone which has basic stretching exercises.

Step II: Have a routine and start following the exercise regime daily.

Does it seem easy enough? Ironically, most people who start with the resolution to stay healthy and fit stop at step I itself. There is no step II for them. The volition to make a move towards a healthy life is fundamental to really bring a change in you. Resolute determination is necessary.

Promise yourself to take care of yourself and carry yourself smartly. Don’t look 60 at the age of 40, make the difference of twenty years visible. Let yourself carry your body gracefully. Do it for yourself. Make a conscious effort to save yourself from problems like lordosis, kyphosis, arthritis etcetera and therefore keep yourself independent as you grow. Start now, feel motivated and continue to be fabulous.
